Esther M. Goyea, 84

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Esther M. (Cobb) Goyea, age 84, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert A. Goyea, who died on July 31, 1994.

Born in Boston, MA on March 12, 1938, she was a loving daughter of the late Clarendon F. and Edith M. (Rhodin) Cobb.

Esther grew up in Easton and was a graduate of Oliver Ames High School. She had made her home in Mansfield for the past sixty-four years and prior to retiring had worked for twenty-five years as a receptionist for the medical practice of Dr. Paula McBrine and Dr. Jose Mendez in Mansfield. She was the first face patients would see upon entering the office and her kind demeanor certainly made them feel relaxed immediately.

Esther’s family was her greatest gift in life and when younger, was actively involved as a Girl Scout Leader for many years. Esther enjoyed trips to area casinos and reading. Her love for animals was unconditional and she will be sadly missed by her best four-legged friend “Lola May”. Esther will always be remembered as a people person with a remarkable sense of humor and regardless of the situation, for her warm and infectious smile.

She is survived by her devoted children: Robert A. Goyea, Jr. of Mansfield and Cheryl A. MacDonald of Mansfield, who was pre-deceased by her husband Paul G. MacDonald in 2010. She was the cherished grandmother of Danielle Minihane and her husband Nathan of Cumberland, Rhode Island, Geoffrey Goyea of Inverness, Florida and the great grandmother of Liam Minihane.

Services and burial will be private and visiting hours are omitted.

Those wishing, may remember Esther with a donation in her memory made to Our Daily Bread-Mansfield’s Food Pantry, 15A West Street, Mansfield, MA 02048 or the Winslow Farm Animal Sanctuary, 37 Eddy Street, Norton, MA 02766.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
