Irene A. Jalbert
6/4/2022

Irene A. Jalbert passed away quietly at her home on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at the age of 92. She was the mother of Mark (Meg) and Kenneth Jalbert, both of Salem and special friend to her sister in-law Pat Jalbert. She was the daughter of the late Henry A and Mary Louise Plourde and sister of the late Rev. Raymond C. Plourde.
She was the Valedictorian of St Joseph’s Academy, class of 1947 and lived in Salem her whole life. She was a stay at home mom until her sons were older then worked as registrar of voters at Salem City Hall and later for the office of District Attorney Kevin Burke until her retirement in 1995.
A well known face in downtown Salem she was outgoing, fun and feisty and always ready for a party. A well dressed weekly regular at many of the local restaurants, she loved all her bartenders and waitresses, many of whom became personal friends. Even in her advanced age, she was always ready with a word of encouragement and really took a sincere interest in the lives of whoever she was talking to, remembering and inquiring about particular events or important milestones in other people's lives.
Always ready to go anywhere, she loved to travel whether it was to San Francisco, Santa Fe, Paris or any of her dozens of Carribean cruises. But most of all she loved her winters in Fort Lauderdale making many friends and fond memories there.
More than anything, she was devoted to her two sons who were the light of her life.
She was truly one-of-a-kind who, with a life well-lived will be missed by so many who enjoyed her outgoing and thoughtful personality.
