MURPHY, Dennis John (BPD Retired) of Sarasota Florida and Boston passed away in the comfort of his family on May 25, 2022. Born in Boston on June 12, 1938, the son of the late Michael and Mary Murphy. Cherished husband of Barbara O'Toole. Loving father of Maura Hoag, Dennis Murphy, Dr. Michele Boucher, Ellen Quigley and Donna Toomey. Proud grandfather of Brittany, Madelin, Emily, Jack, Michael and Nate. He was the brother of the late Ellen Curley. He proudly served in the USMC from 1955 to 1959 and the Boston Police Department from 1966 to 2003 attaining the rank of Sergeant. Relatives are friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours in the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY on Sunday, June 5, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral from the funeral home on Monday June 6, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Mission Church) 1545 Tremont Street, Boston at 10 o’clock. Interment to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
