Mary J. Austin
Beloved wife, mother and grandmother

BURLINGTON: Mary Josephine (Fisher) Austin, age 79, recently of Burlington, passed away at home in the care of her family and hospice on Thursday, March 10, 2022.

She was the beloved wife of Warren P. Austin, Jr. with whom she shared over 56 years of marriage.

Born in Rockville Centre, New York on January 5, 1943, she was the daughter of the late John and Josephine (Eppig) Fisher.

Mary Jo was raised in the Chelmsford and Lowell area. She attended Chelmsford schools and graduated from Chelmsford High School in 1960. Following high school, she attended Lowell State College, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Education and Salem State College, where she earned a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education.

Mary Jo resided in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and then State College, Pennsylvania for 10 years until moving to Burlington.

She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and traveling to Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island in Maine.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, David K. Austin and his wife Suzanne, and John R. Austin and his wife Caitlin: four grandchildren, Robin, Katherine and Nicholas Austin and Patrick Osborne: her sisters-in-law, Betty Fisher and Gail R. Austin: her brother-in-law, David L. Austin and his wife Linda: many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. '
She was the sister of the late John Fisher and Elizabeth Downey.

Family and friends will be received Friday, March 18th, from 5-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. A Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday March 19th at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Parish-Ste. Marie’s Church, 75 Chamberlain St., Lowell. Those planning to attend are asked to meet at the church.
