New Bedford – Sara (Medeiros) Costa, age 98, of New Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Jose Costa.
Sara was born in Ribeira Quente, Sao Miguel, Azores to the late Antonio Medeiros and Maria (Rita) Medeiros. She had worked as a presser for Paul Modes Clothing Manufacturing.
Sara is survived by her daughters, Artemisia de Sousa, Dora de Melo and her husband Daciano and Lillian Eccleston and her late son Jose Manuel Costa, grandchildren, Stephen, Diane, Linda, Leslie, Gina, Lee-Ann, Jason, Sherry, Eric, Brian, Alex, Matthew and Christine; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and daughter-in-law, Maria Costa.
She was predeceased by her late son, Jose Manuel Costa, late granddaughter, Sally Costa; her late siblings, Gilbert Medeiros, Antonio Medeiros, Joao Medeiros, Maria Coelho and Guilhermina Melo and her late sons-in-law, Alvaro de Sousa and Wayne Eccleston.
Sara’s visiting hours and funeral service will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022. Visiting hours will be held from 8:30 A.M. – 10:00 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that a donation be made in Sara’s memory to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church or to a charity of your choice.
