12/19/2021

FREEMAN, William S. “Bill”, Age 74 of Concord, MA passed away peacefully on December 19, 2021. He was born on August 24, 1947, the only child of Major William H. Freeman and Captain Nellie (a.k.a. Kelly) Freeman. Bill grew up in Concord and attended Concord-Carlisle High School, where he developed an interest in the Russian language and literature. He went on to study English and Russian literature at Boston University and Suffolk University, linguistics at Marquette University in Wisconsin, and later received an M.L.S. at Rutgers University. In the early 1970s, he settled into a career as Chief for the Municipal Government Information Center at the Monmouth County Library in Shrewsbury, NJ, while he pursued a doctorate at Rutgers University. He later worked as a Management Consultant and Computer Analyst. Until his final weeks, Bill was funny and quick-witted. He was also highly complementary. After a conversation, he always left the other person feeling better about themselves. When his daughter asked him as an adult what career he had imagined that she would pursue, his response was “Anything you wanted”. He leaves behind his loving daughter, Erica Freeman, son-in-law Edmund Klimek, and two precocious granddaughters Poppy Klimek and Pippa Klimek. Bill will be placed in the Freeman family plot at Woodlawn Cemetery in Acton, MA. Services are private. Please consider donating to stjude.org
