Norman C. Tache, 104, of Salem, passed away peacefully at The Lafayette in Marblehead with his family by his side on Monday, November 1, 2021. He was the loving husband of Annette I. (Tondreau) Tache, with whom he shared 77 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Albert J. and Corinne (Michaud) Tache. A Veteran of World War II, he served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater with the Army Air Corps. Following the war he returned to Salem where he managed the Kennedy Butter and Egg Store on Essex Street in Salem until his retirement. Following his retirement, he managed the pro-shop for the Salem Municipal Golf Course until his second retirement in 2011 at the age of ninety four.
Norman was the consummate gracious gentleman. Meticulously dressed and always welcoming to one and all. He was devoted to his wife, family and large extended family as well as his many friends. Norman had a sharp wit and a wonderful gentle sense of humor.
In addition to Annette, he is survived by two daughters, Judith A. Tache of New Hampshire, Leanne M. Francis and husband Scott of Salem and his son Dr. Daniel E. Tache and wife Kathlyn of Appleton, WI. He also leaves fourteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Norman was predeceased by two sons, Peter and Thomas Tache, 12 siblings, Cecile St. Gelais, Emma Tache, Joseph Tache, Stanley Tache, Henry Tache, George Tache, Theresa Pelletier, Henrietta Lojko, Lucien Tache, Paul Tache, Marie Pesce and Jeannette Gagne.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem on Thursday, November 11, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. His funeral service will be on Friday November 12th at Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem at 10:30 A.M., followed by a Committal Service with Military Honors at St. Mary Cemetery, Salem. City of Salem requires all to wear protective face masks indoors.
