Carol P. (Pelkey) Davitt, age 88, a resident of the Village at Willow Crossings in Mansfield, formerly of Warwick, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully, in the presence of her loving family on Thursday, October 21, 2021. She was the beloved wife of the late David J. Davitt, to whom she was wed for sixty-three years at the time of his death on December 5, 2016.

Born in Laconia, New Hampshire on November 19, 1932, she was a loving daughter of the late Earle and Olive (Quimby) Pelkey.

Carol grew up in Glendale, Rhode Island and was a graduate of Burrillville High School. She had made her home in Mansfield for the past six years and was a former longtime resident of Warwick.

Prior to retiring, Mrs. Davitt had been employed for thirty years as an office manager and assistant ophthalmologist.

Carol’s adoring family was truly the focal point of her life. She was a former member of the Hillsgrove United Methodist Church in Warwick and her hobbies included cooking, trying new recipes, playing piano and reading. When younger she enjoyed knitting and along with her late husband David, they enjoyed ballroom and square dancing and vacationing in beautiful Kennebunkport, Maine.

She is survived by her devoted daughters: Susan Darling and her husband George of Marietta, Pennsylvania and Linda Byrne and her husband Kevin of Foxborough. She was the cherished grandmother of Casey Darling Horan and her husband Alex Horan and Geoffrey Byrne. She was the treasured great grandmother of Oona and Kaya Horan.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a service in celebration of her life on Saturday, October 30th at 4:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield. Burial will be held privately at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, RI.

Visiting hours are omitted and those wishing may remember Carol with a donation in her memory made to Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley Street, West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
