Josephine M. (Bettencourt) Becker, age 91, of Norton, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. She was the beloved wife of the late William W. Becker, Jr., to whom she was wed for nearly thirty years at the time of his death on February 11, 1995.

Born in New York, New York on March 27, 1930, she was a loving daughter of the late Joseph C. and Rose (Barber) Bettencourt.

Josephine grew up in Taunton and was a 1948 graduate of Saint Mary’s Catholic School. A dedicated homemaker to her adoring family, she had also worked as an office worker for various area companies.

A resident of Norton for the past fifty-six years, Mrs. Becker was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton and a former member of the Norton American Legion Post 222 Ladies Auxiliary.

Jo’s family was the essence and greatest gift of her life and she was a loving caregiver to her late husband Bill. She was an avid bingo player, looked forward to attending annual clambakes at the Westville Congregational Church in Taunton and was a familiar face at the former Kricket’s Korner Restaurant in Norton, where she enjoyed having breakfast and socializing with friends.

She is survived by her devoted children: William W. Becker, III and his wife Leslie of Attleboro, Marie R. Jennings and her husband Craig of Norton, David J. Becker and his wife Theresa of Attleboro and Hattie L. Becker and her boyfriend Harold Jones of Norton. She was the cherished grandmother of Nathan Becker and his wife Caitlin, Brandon Becker and his fiancé Jessica Cameron, Emma Becker, Daniel Becker and his fiancé Madison, Christopher Becker, Elizabeth Jennings, Angela Jennings and Olivia Jennings. She was the dear sister of Joseph Bettencourt of Raynham and his late wife Catherine, and is also survived by her loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, October 24th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 25th at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power Street, Norton. Burial will follow at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.
