Elsie Bettencourt, 79, of Fall River, passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at St. Anne's Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Louis P. and Lucy A. (Romano) Bettencourt.
Ms. Bettencourt was born in Fall River and had resided in Westport for most of her life. Prior to her retirement, she had worked as a medical coder at the Newport Naval Base. She owned the former Sissy's Restaurant in Westport and had also worked as a telephone lineman and a truck driver. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and reading.
Survivors include her 2 sons: John T. Oliveira and his wife Michelle of New Bedford and Michael S. Oliveira of Westport; her brother: Roland Bettencourt of Lakeville; 3 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Louis P. Oliveira and sister of the late Lucy Bettencourt, Joseph "Sonny" Bettencourt, John Bettencourt, Louis P. Bettencourt, Jr. and Robert Bettencourt.
The Family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at St. Anne's Hospital for the compassionate care they gave to Ms. Bettencourt.
