Celilia (Viveiros) Rapoza. Age 98.Wife of the late Joseph E. Rapoza. Residence formerly 136 Dellawanda Rd., Swansea. Died Friday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Fall River.
Daughter of the late Jose Viveiros and the late Maria (Rebello) Viveiros. She was born in Fall River and then resided in Swansea for 54 years before returning to Fall River in 2005. She was a homemaker since her marriage and previously had worked as a weaver at the former Sagamore Mill. She was a parishioner of St. Dominic Church, Swansea and a member of their Ladies Guild. She was Past President of the Ocean Grove Senior Citizen’s Club of 10 years, a former member of the Senior Senate; she received a citation from the Massachusetts State House for 50 consecutive years of voting.
She is survived by One Son: Joseph J. Rapoza of Swansea. One Daughter:Noreen Rezendes of Fall River. 1 Brother: Ernest J. Viveiros of N. Swansea. 2 Sisters:Eva Oliveira of Centerville, MA and Hilda Franco of Swansea. 4 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren and Several Nieces and Nephews. She was the Mother of the late baby John Rapoza. She was the sister of the late Joseph Viveiros of Old Lyme, CT, James Viveiros of East Lyme, CT, Henry Viveiros of San Jose, CA , Peter Viveiros of Morton Grove, IL, Margaret Robinson of Swansea, Virginia Soares of Fall River, Mary Costa of East Providence, RI, Lucy Cole of Manchester, CT, Hortense Medeiros of Somerset, MA.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home,Inc. 1521 N. Main St. Tuesday at 7:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Dominic Church, G.A.R. Highway, Swansea at 9 A.M. Internment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours Monday 4-8 P.M.
