Mary M. Gonsalves, 94
Mary M. Gonsalves, age 94, a lifelong resident of Norton, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 23, 2021 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
Born in Norton, MA on May 20, 1927, she was a loving daughter of the late Peter P., Sr. and Eugenia (Silva) Gonsalves.
Mary grew up in Norton on her family’s farm, where she’s made her home ever since. She was a 1945 graduate of Norton High School and went on to secretarial school.
Prior to retiring, she faithfully worked for over forty years at Swank, Inc in Attleboro, retiring with the position of an Assistant Executive Product Manager. She was a lifelong communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton.
Mary was a kind person who valued the times spent with family and friends. She had a special place in her heart for animals and spun wool from the sheep she raised on her farm. She enjoyed walking, knitting, reading and watching golf, the Patriots and the Red Sox. When younger she traveled extensively throughout America and Europe and also enjoyed skiing.
She was the dear sister of the late Edward Gonsalves, Jr., Antone Johnson, Peter Gonsalves, Jr., John Gonsalves, Sr., Roland Gonsalves, Alice Larocque, Laura Gonsalves, Margaret Shaw and Fina Pickering. She is survived by her many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday, August 27th from 9:30-10:30 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 27th at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power Street, Norton. Burial will follow at Saint Francis Cemetery in Taunton.
