Obituary

Linda Faye Taylor, 64, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, April 3, 2006, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, April 7, 2006, at Crossview Baptist Church, Fitzgerald, with Rev. David Fisher and Rev. Clayton Dowd officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Miss Taylor was born May 29, 1941, in Dodge County, Georgia, to the late Rev. John C. and Estelle Spires Taylor. She had lived in the community all of her life. She was a 1959 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and received her LPN training from Mrs. Katie Young at Ben Hill County Hospital. She worked as a nurse for the Medical Arts doctors, as well as for Dr. Roberts and Dr. Liu. She was former owner/operator of McElmurray’s Grocery, Linda Faye’s Grocery, and H & M Grocery. She was the first woman elected to the Fitzgerald City Council. She was elected Ben Hill County Tax Commissioner and served in that office for twenty years retiring in December, 2004. Miss Taylor was a member of Crossview Baptist Church. Linda Faye was loved, made a difference, and will be missed.

Miss Taylor is survived by her three brothers: Curtis Taylor and Johnny Ray Taylor of Fitzgerald, and William E. Taylor of Fairfield, CA; one sister: Martha Giordano of Knoxville, TN; several nieces and nephews; her caregiver: Penny Bell; as well as her special dog: Daisy Mae Taylor. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
