Margaret Mary ”Peg” (Shea) Barton, 78, of West Boylston passed away early Saturday morning, June 5th in Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Worcester. She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Kenneth; her daughters, Natalie McCarthy of Portsmouth, NH, Danielle Mullen and her husband, Kevin of West Newbury, MA, and Michelle Barton and her partner, Dawn Canario of Westport, MA. She also leaves her granddaughters, Michaella McCarthy and Katie McCarthy, her grandson, Jameson Canario and her brother, Donald Shea and his wife Dolores of Worcester, and many nieces and nephews.
Peg was born in Worcester, the daughter of Daniel and Mary (Early) Shea. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy and was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, West Boylston. Peg worked at U Mass Memorial Hospital for more than 30 years.
Peg enjoyed many summers at Nantasket Beach – sharing with her husband special times in Kissimmee, FL and North Myrtle Beach, SC. Her greatest joy was being in the company of her husband and family – and she especially enjoyed spending time in Portsmouth so she could be with her precious granddaughter, Michaella. She was a strong and loving wife, mother, grandmother and a good friend.
The family would like to thank the staff at Beaumont Rehab for their compassion and care for Peg; we appreciate everything that you did for her. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in remembrance of Peg and for all of the families who are affected by this devastating disease.
Calling hours are Friday, June 11th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester. A Mass of Christian burial will be on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel, West Boylston followed by her burial at Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
