Irene E. (Gosselin) Richards, age 90, passed away on May 6, 2021 peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Nov. 5, 1930 in Holyoke, to the late Arthur and Rena (Chapdelaine) Gosselin. Irene was a communicant of St. Rose de Lima Parish where she was active in the Family Life program. She was also an avid volunteer for the Chicopee Soup Kitchen. She is predeceased by her husband Allen J. Richards who passed away in June of 1992 after 39 years of marriage, and her companion of the past 20 years, John (Butch) Bynan, who passed away May of 2020. She is survived by her daughter Lyn Jones of West Seneca NY; her daughter, Gail Daviau and her husband Raymond of Chicopee, where she spent the last year under her constant care; her son Glen Richards and his wife Kim of South Windsor, CT; and her daughter Lisa Learned of Westfield. She also leaves one sister Doris Desmarais of Chicopee; 9 beloved grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren, soon to be 4. She is also predeceased by her brother Norman Gosselin and sister Jeannette Desjardins. A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021 at 9:00 AM at St. Rose de Lima Cemetery, Chicopee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. George School. The Grise Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
