In Stoughton, Mary Ventura, Age 91, passed away peacefully following a period of declining health on April 5, 2021 in Mount Sinai Hospital. Mary was the wife of the late Abel Ventura of Raynham. She was born in Cambridge, MA., the daughter of the late William & Louise (Kirchdorfer) Canning. Mary was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Cambridge and also Fisher Business School in Boston. She was a resident of Norton and formerly of Raynham. Mary worked as a medical transcriber at Morton Hospital. She enjoyed traveling, reading, discussing politics, playing bingo, gardening, and above all cherished her time with family, especially her beloved grandchildren. She is survived by her children; John Ventura and wife Jeanne of Moorseville, N.C., Bill Ventura and wife Jean of East Taunton, Maryann Rivard and husband Joe of Norton, her grandchildren; Harlee, Samantha Ventura, Nicholas, Peter and Tessa Rivard, and her siblings; Catherine Feldt and husband Walter of Louisville, Kentucky and the late Alice Sweeney and Raymond Canning. A funeral home service will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Friday, April 9th at 11:30am. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton. Visiting hours will also be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-7pm.
