DARTMOUTH - Dr. Kermit Wayne Dewey of Dartmouth, MA died at home February 11, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 4, 1942 in Malone, NY to Karl and Laura. He is survived by his wife Valerie (Harvey) Dewey; his son Benjamin, wife Sharon, their sons Joshua and Daniel, of Westerville, OH; his son Stephen, wife Amy, their daughters Marissa and Morgan, of West Newbury, MA; his daughter Meredith of New Bedford, MA; his daughter Jennifer, husband Steven Kundrot, their daughter Aubrey, of Belmont, MA; and his brother Gene, wife Beatrice, of Madison, WI.
Kermit graduated from Franklin Academy, Cornell University, and Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences. He served his internship at the University of Michigan and his residency at New York Hospital. Kermit started his Radiology career in the Navy in Newport, RI and practiced for over 30 years in Fall River until his retirement in 2001. He served as a Director of Lafayette Federal Savings Bank from 2000 to 2008.
He cherished time with his family, sailing Buzzards Bay, traveling the world, and volunteering at the New Bedford Whaling Museum Library. His love of music included playing the piano, organ, clarinet, accordion, and singing with the Greater New Bedford Choral Society.
