Marie W. Foley of West Roxbury, MA passed away quietly Friday, February 12, 2021 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, Boston MA. She was born on March 29, 1930 in Brooksville, OH and raised on a farm in Farmersville, OH. Marie grew up and lived in Ohio where she met her future husband, Thomas Foley, a Boston native. They would move to Boston in 1955 where they raised 5 children. She was a proud and long-time member of the League of Women’s Voters of Boston and active in the Holy Name Parish, West Roxbury MA. She was an administrative assistant to Dr. Francis O. Schmitt, the founder of the Neuroscience Research Program, which is affiliated with Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After the passing of her husband, Marie was an active member of Sophia Snow Place (her residence) where she ran activities such as movie night. She was a kind and loving person, always ready to help anyone in need. Marie was predeceased by her husband Thomas Foley (d. 2006) her son, Norman J. (d. 2005) of Las Vegas, NV and dear friend, Robert Bartels (d. 2016). She is survived by her children, Mary K. (William Steffens) of Juno Beach, FL, James F. of Los Angeles, CA, T. Patrick and Dennis M., both of Easthampton, MA; her grandchildren, Julia, Sada and Bobby Foley, Abbey Steffens and Nichole McManus; her great grandchildren, Kevin Foley, Fiona and Zoey MacEachern, and Jason McManus; and her great great grandchildren, Skylar McManus and Jaylean Hillery. Due to COVID restrictions, a memorial service is planned for late spring to share memories and to celebrate her life.
