Dorothea F. (Slaney) Benson, age 71, of Brockton, died February 14, 2021 at Good Samaritan Medical Center. Dottie was born and raised in Norwood, daughter of the late Leonard W. and Dorothy (Adams) Slaney. She was a 1967 graduate of Norwood High School and attended Blue Hills Regional Technical School for Art. Determined and strong willed, she became Director of Human Resources at the Corporate Office of Hit or Miss. Following their closing, she worked in Human Resources at South Coastal Bank and retired from the Bass Pro Shop.
Dottie was centered on her family, friends and extended family from work. Never one to sit home, she enjoyed get togethers, reunions, going to the beach and fine dining. She had a knack for art and fashion and was known for her style. She also enjoyed music, cooking and her pets.
Dottie was the loving mother of Christopher Benson and his partner Agnieszka Ciurko of Mt. Arlington, NJ and Heather Hines of Taunton; grandmother of Thomas P. Hines, Jr. of Attleboro and best friend of Maureen Milliken of Braintree.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Saturday, February 20 from 12:30-2:30pm, followed by a Funeral Service at 2:30pm. Following COVID guidelines, masks must be worn and social distancing observed. There is a maximum of 40 people in the funeral home at any time.
