Deborah A. McMullen, age 67 of Onset, formerly of Brockton, died February 2, 2021 surrounded by her family, at the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich. She was the devoted wife for 44 years of Joseph J. McMullen. Debbie was born in Boston and raised in Brockton, a daughter of the late Arthur and Helen (McAfee) Golding. She had lived in Brockton for over 57 years before retiring to Onset 10 years ago.
Debbie was a 1971 graduate of Cardinal Spellman High School and earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Bridgewater State College. For twenty years she was a kindergarten teacher in the Brockton Public School System.
In her free time, Debbie enjoyed time on the beach and trips to Las Vegas. She was very family oriented and loved to entertain and sing karaoke with her friends and family on her back deck in Onset. She will be remembered as a kind, loving and compassionate woman who was most proud of her children and grandchildren.
Debbie was the loving mother of Joseph McMullen, Jr. of Cohasset, Alexandria MacKinnon of Brockton, Timothy Race of Bedford, NH and Courtney Soqui of New Bedford. She leaves ten grandchildren: Arthur McMullen; Bennett, Serena, and Anderson Race; Rori, Gwen, Gavin, Shea and Rowan MacKinnon and Lorenzo Soqui. She was the sister of Irma Monteiro, Maureen DiRenzo and Elizabeth Shaw, all of Brockton, and the late John Golding.
A walk through visitation with her family will be held at the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (rte. 123) Brockton on Friday, February 5, from 4-8pm. Funeral Mass at St. Edith Stein Church on Saturday at 10:30am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. In following COVID guidelines, masks must be worn in the funeral home and church and social distancing observed. There is a maximum of 25 people allowed in the funeral home at any one time and visitors are asked to walk through the receiving line and return to the parking lot.
