Frances “Francey” Roder Sternick, long-time Brookline resident, was born on October 31 1928 and passed away on December 31st at her home at The Hebrew Rehabilitation Center in Roslindale. Francey was a deeply spiritual and loving person, who led a giving and full creative life as a sculptor and poet in her earlier years. Pre-deceased by her beloved sister, Lillian Goroff of Brookline and Pompano Beach, Florida, and Her sister Ethel (Etti) Leon of Milwaukee and Pompano Beach, Florida. She leaves her son, Dr. Cary Sternick, of The Woodlands in Texas, a niece, Sandra Goroff of Canton and her husband Burt Peretsky, nieces Nancy Silverman and her son, Scott Silverman both of Edina, Minnesota and Ellen Leon Granof and her husband Lorry Granof of Milwaukee, and three grandchildren, Alyssa, Lauren and Aaron. Francey took great pride in the volunteer work she did in her hospital ministry -- taking the sacraments of Holy Communion to the very ill. Donations in Francey’s honor may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Boston, 10 Chandler Street, Boston 02116 or – for their extraordinary and caring work by its staff - to The Hebrew Rehabilitation Center, 1200 Centre Street, Roslindale, MA 02131. A private graveside service will be held at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Brookline and a memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.
