Francis L. “Frank” Walsh, Sr., age 90, of Canton passed away December 29th at the Milton Hospital. Born and raised in Jamaica Plain, he graduated from Boston College High School, attended Boston College and served in the United States Coast Guard. Frank and Kitty raised their family in Dorchester Lower Mills. He was an active member of Saint Gregory’s Parish and volunteered his time with many church programs-St Vincent DePaul, CYO and Holy Name Society to mention a few.

Frank worked at the Boston Globe delivery department for 45 years. In 1969 he was elected Vice President of Teamsters Local 259. In the spring of 1970, he was appointed President and Business Agent of Local 259. This was a full time position at the union headquarters. During his leadership, Frank advocated for the good of the membership and their families. Whether negotiating difficult contracts with management, providing for the safety of drivers, or representing members at numerous hearings; Frank committed himself to the well being of the members. In February of 1977 Frank resigned his position with the union and returned to the delivery department and was named delivery foreman in 1978. Frank was very proud to be elected the first safety foreman at the Boston Globe and continued on in this position until his retirement.

He has lived in Canton since 1986 where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 2095, St. Vincent de Paul, Catholic Charities and the Canton Lions Club. Frank also enjoyed spending many summers on Humarock Beach.

Beloved husband of the late Catherine M. “Kitty” (Ennis). Father of Mary Ann Walsh of Quincy, Frank L. Jr and his wife Karen of Canton, Cathy McNeal of Brockton, Carol McClellan of Plymouth, Patty Courage and her husband Marty of Boston, John Walsh and his wife Nancy of Braintree, Kevin Walsh and his wife Maria of W. Roxbury and Greg Walsh and his wife Susan of Braintree and the late baby James M. Walsh. Father in law of the late Jack McNeal and John McClellan. Brother of the late Michael Walsh. Brother in law of Rosemary Reynolds and her husband Sean of W. Roxbury. Also survived by 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his granddaughter Sarah McClellan. Frank was a longtime friend of Bill W. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Friday 1/1/2021 from 2-5 pm. Due to
the Current Covid 19 Restrictions only 10 guest will be allowed in the funeral home at once and masks are required. Funeral Mass at St. Gerard Majella Church, Canton Saturday 1/2/2021 at 10 a.m. Burial St. Mary’s Cemetery, Canton.
