Wallace Jimmy “Jim” Freeman, 78, of Ashburn, went to be with his Lord on Monday, September 21, 2020 at Tift Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Mr. Freeman was born January 14, 1942 to the late James Wallace Freeman and Lossie Pitts Freeman of Ashburn.

Mr. Freeman was an active member of Sycamore Baptist Church where he most recently served on the pulpit committee. He was a very faithful member of the “Good News” Sunday School Class. Mr. Freeman’s priority was God, Family & Work. Mr. Freeman was employed with the Turner County Stock Yard for over 49 years. He was well known and respected by livestock buyers and sellers from all over the state and surrounding states, never meeting a stranger. He also served our country in the Army National Guard for six years. His family was his world, never failing to demonstrate unconditional love, kindness, patience to all and was a generous giver never wanting any recognition. In his spare time, Mr. Freeman enjoyed canning fruits, vegetables, and sweet pickles and was always eager to share his finished product with others. He was also known for his homemade Brunswick stew, to which he kept the recipe a secret.

Mr. Freeman is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marjorie Manus Freeman, his son, Rex Wallace Freeman (Amy) of Ashburn, his daughter, Ranee Freeman Gregory (Brad) of Sycamore, four grandchildren, Kayla Gregory Thornhill (Preston) of Tifton, Kerri Gregory Reed (Stephen) of Tifton, Lane and Cody Freeman of Ashburn, two great grandchildren, Easton and Colton Thornhill of Tifton, three sisters, Kay Hasty of Tifton, Virginia Wise of Ashburn, and Kathy Moss, and one brother, Ricky Freeman of Ashburn. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Freeman was proceeded in death by his brother, Donald Freeman of Cordele and his sister, Carolyn Freeman Goble of New Jersey.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, September 24, 2020 in The Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn. It is required that mask be worn and social distancing will be enforced.

For those who wish, you are welcome to come and pay your respects on Wednesday from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Perry Funeral Chapel.
