Frances D. (Sheehan) White
Frances D. Sheehan White, 98, of Dartmouth passed away Monday, July 27, 2020 at home. She was the wife of the late James B. White. Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Robert E. and Pauline L. (Gammons) Sheehan. She was a proud Westport resident for most of her life prior to moving to Dartmouth recently.
Frances was loved by all who knew her. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined to fight. Through her, her family knows what resilience and perseverance truly looks like. Her joy for life kept her pushing. She was strong, funny, smart, beautiful, talented, loving, giving and caring. No matter how much or how little she had if you needed it more she would give it to you. She had a wonderful smile that could light up a room and a giggle that made you giggle too. She loved real butter, coffee ice cream, watching Jeopardy (which she was the queen of), birds, playing the piano, and playing scrabble. Her greatest love was her family. All her children were proud to call her mom. She was like a mother to her children’s friends and felt like the Westport taxi service. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family. In February of 2008, the Westport Historical Society did an interview with her on her and her husband, Jim White, Mover of Buildings.
Survivors include a son John White of Arizona, 5 daughters, Florence Jaffe of Dartmouth, Linda White of Washington, Paula Renaud of Dartmouth, Cindy Howland of Westport and Deborah Lanctot of New Hampshire; 149 grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, great, great, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Jay White, Robert White, Richard White, Bruce White, Jeffrey White and Janet White.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
