Raymond Hughes, 88, of Anderson died June 7, 2020 at Edgewater Woods after an extended illness.
He was born December 6, 1931, in Seafield, IN, the son of Harvey E. and Bessie (McCreery) Hughes.
He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
He was a pipefitter at Delco Remy for 38 years before retiring in 1988. Ray was a life member of Voiture 510 of the 40 & 8; V.F. W. Post 266; American Legion Post 127; and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose # 150.
Ray is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rita (Anderson) Hughes whom he married February 19, 1954; his five children, Chuck (Cindy) Hughes, Richard (Cheryl) Hughes, Debra Rae Hughes Parsons (Shon Silvey), Michael (Amy) Hughes and Mark (Rebecca) Hughes, extended family Missy Myers; sister, Rachel Wilhoite Freeland; grandchildren, Jacob (Julie) Hughes; Shaun (Shannricca) Hughes; Jennifer (John) Thurber, Taylor Hughes; Trevor Hughes; Haylee Hughes and Austyn Hughes; great grandchildren, Nigel, Lillian and Grace Thurber; several nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard, Rupert, Thomas and James Hughes; sisters, Marcella, Jeraldine and June.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2020 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Ned Clark officiating. Military honor guard will be presented by Middletown Legion and Patriot Guard will be present.
Visitation will be held from noon until the service at 2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
