Melba Brogdon Purvis, 83, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Thursday, June 4, 2020, at Pruitt Health in Ocilla, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held.
Mrs. Purvis was born July 22, 1936, in Alapaha, Georgia, to the late Leon Flynn & Rosa Lee Jernigan Brogdon. She lived in the Riverbend community the majority of her life and worked for Fitzgerald Underwear for a number of years. Mrs. Purvis assisted in the daily family farming operation. She was a devoted member to Riverbend Missionary Baptist Church and worked tirelessly to secure funds for the church youth.
She is survived by her son, Lamar Purvis & Dale of Ocilla; a daughter, Joie Lamanda Busbin & Randall of Ocilla; grandchildren: Jed Purvis & Marissa of Ocilla and Marla Thompson & Brad of Tifton and great-grandchildren: Tyce Thompson, Jesten Purvis, Maylin Purvis and Tanner Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. L. Purvis and a brother Ronnie Brogdon.
