New Bedford – Joycelyn, affectionately known as “Joyce” M. (Simmons) Viera, age 80, of New Bedford, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Charles “Charlie” E. Viera.
Joyce was born in New Bedford, MA to the late Edward and Cecelia (Alves) Simmons. She had been a supervisor at Walmart for many years. Joyce had been a member of the Mount Carmel Seniors group, loved to play Bingo and especially loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Charles “Charlie”, her 2 sons, Charles E. Viera and his wife Cinthia and Robert Viera; grandchildren, Jordan and Tyler Viera; as well as her sister, Jesuina Viera.
Joyce’s visiting hours will be held on Friday, January 10th from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home with a service to take place during that time. Burial will be private.
