CHICOPEE ~ Barbara E. (Johns) Hartnett, 86, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, December 6, 2019. She passed into Eternal Life at Willimansett Center West in Chicopee surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born in Malden, Massachusetts on June 5, 1933, a beloved daughter of the late Harry and Eunice (Caron) Johns. She was raised in Malden, graduated from local schools and came to Chicopee in 1963. She later moved to Riverview, Florida in 1993 and moved back to Chicopee in 2013. During her stay in Riverview, she was active in Water Aerobics. She previously worked at Westover Cleaners on Westover Air Force Base and later was a well known seamstress at Sentry Uniform and Cleaners in Fairview. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ret. Master Sergeant John F. Hartnett who was Called Home on January 30, 1992. She leaves her two loving children, Joseph D. Hartnett and Deborah A. Hartnett, both of Chicopee; her grandson, Daniel Hartnett; her three brothers, Richard Johns, Harry Johns and William Johns; and many nephews and nieces. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her brother, Edmond Johns and her sister, Elaine Regan. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of her family at Saint Patrick Cemetery, Chicopee.
