CHICOPEE – Rita E. (Duffy) Stroumbos, 89, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, passed away peacefully at Life Care Center of Wilbraham on Saturday, November 30, 2019. She was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on August 19, 1930, a beloved daughter of the late Luke and Helen (LaPorte) Duffy and had lived in Fairview since 1966. She was last employed as a Supervisor of Directory Assistance for the New England Telephone Company in Springfield. She was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Fairview. Most of all, she loved her family and her many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of over 52 years, James T. Stroumbos who passed away on December 16, 2002; her two loving sons, Theodore J. “Ted” Stroumbos and James J. “Jimmy” Stroumbos; her dear brother, Danny Duffy; and her dear sister, Janet Garcia. She leaves her loving children, Duff J. Stroumbos and his wife, Kim, of Denver, CO and Mary R. “Gina” Pickard and her husband, Kenneth, of Palmer; her six cherished grandchildren, Tina Donahue, (Jimmy), Theresa Reid, Rita Gerdemann, (Brad), Jill Avery, (Ryan), Tara Finn, (Matthew), and Matthew Pickard; her ten cherished great-grandchildren, Braden and Jayson, Rogue and Zeia, Caleb and Derrick, Henry, and Nevaeh, Tyler and Jace; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members. Her funeral will be held on Monday, December 9, 2019 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. (funeral home will open at 9:45 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Committal Service will follow the Mass at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, December 8, 2019 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
