NEW BEDFORD…Lydia (Sylvia) Adesso, 80, of New Bedford passed away November 13, 2019 at her home.
She was the loving wife of Frank J. Adesso.
Born in Fairhaven, she was the daughter of the late John S. and Mary (Furtado) Sylvia and had lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
Mrs. Adesso had worked for over 15 years as a Stock Clerk at Shaw’s Supermarket. She was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in New Bedford where she was in their Association of Canadian American Club and a member of the Christ Temple U.P.C., the Red Hat Society and a Parkinson Support Group. She was the past Director of the South Eastern Massachusetts Junior Bowling Association, the past Director of the Massachusetts Women’s Bowling Association, was a Certified Bowling Instructor and the past Secretary and Treasurer of her Bowling League.
Along with her husband, survivors include her children: Sharon L. Rich (husband: Stephen) of New Bedford, Sheila M. Adesso of Westport and Steven P. Adesso (wife: Stephanie) of Katy, TX; her brothers: Joseph Sylvia of Clifton Park, NY and Paul Sylvia of Vernon Hills, IL; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services to which relatives and friends are invited will be held November 29, 2019 at 7P.M. at Christ Temple, UPC, 1198 Fish Road, Tiverton, RI and November 30, 2019 at 10A.M. at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart Church, 121 Mt. Pleasant Street, New Bedford.
