New Bedford – Emily S. (Almeida) Rose, age 101, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home. She was the beloved wife of the late John G. Rose.
Emily was born in New Bedford, MA to the late Antonio S. and Mary A. (Mendonca) Almeida. She had worked as a clothing inspector for Berkshire Hathaway and was a waitress at the Jimmy Evans Flyer, The Seahorse and Thad’s Steakhouse. Emily enjoyed reading in her spare time and she loved animals.
She is survived by her son, Ronald Nicholas and his wife, Mary Pretus of Venice, FLA; granddaughter, Kimberly Nicholas; 3 great-grandchildren, Rachel, Brian and Jason; 3 great-great-grandchildren, Adalee, Isabella and Matthias; nephews, Steve and John; nieces, Carol Ann and Sheila. Emily was predeceased by her siblings, Antone Almeida, Carminda Braz, Albertina “Dot” Joseph and Leonora Cory.
Emily’s funeral will be on Friday September 6, 2019 at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth st. New Bedford, Ma at 9:00 A.M. followed by a religious service at 10:30 A.M. Burial will take place at Rural Cemetery.
