New Bedford – Michael J. McGowen, age 68, of New Bedford, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Rhonda M. (Parris) McGowen.
Michael was born in Acushnet, MA to the late John J. and Nettie Eva (West) McGowen. He served briefly in the U.S. Army and then worked in the packaging and shipping department for a local wholesale company. Mike loved football, especially the NY Giants.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda; daughters, Erin McGowen, Suzanne Soares and Candy Soares; grandchildren, Michael Ferreira, Jazlyn Westgate, Khloe DaSilva, DaShawn Tirado and Kayla Lourenco; sister, Nancy Meehan and her husband, Bill; brother, Dan McGowen and his wife, Tammy; brother, Christopher McGowen and his longtime girlfriend, Lisa and brother, Jim McGowen, husband of Natalie. He was also the father of the late Susanne Donna McGowen and brother of the late Mark McGowen.
Michael’s funeral arrangements are private.
