HESS, Robert J. Jr., of Winthrop and Saugus, passed away on May 5, 2019. He was 70 years old. He was the beloved husband of Deborahann (McCarthy) Hess. Born in Key West, FL, he was the cherished son of the late Robert J. and Jennie (Shiner) Hess. Devoted father of Ryan C. Hess of Riverview, FL, Erin K. Botelho and her husband Matthew of Saugus and Kyle C. Hess of New Bedford. Adored grandfather of Kaylie and Lyndsey Sprissler, Logan Botelho, Jennie Gamache, Jax Botelho and Anthony Louis Dichiara jr. Loving great-grandfather of Arietta Cooper. Dear brother of Jan Harris of South Carolina. Visiting hours will be held in the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. WINTHROP, on Thursday, May 9, from 4-8pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, May 10 at 10am. Relatives and friends are cordially invited. Cremation to follow the funeral service will be private. Robert was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran who served during the Vietnam War from 1967-1970. He was a Past Commodore of the Winthrop Yacht Club and a member of the VFW-Beachmont, Revere Post #6712.
