Elizabeth M. Hassett, 89, of Shrewsbury, died Thursday, December 20th in UMASS Memorial Medical Center – University Campus. She leaves many nieces and nephews including, John Hassett, Sue Hassett, Paula Hassett, Kathy Ozella, Lynn Armstrong, Barbara Hassett, Patty Hassett, Tina Hassett, Gary Hassett, David Hassett, Mark Hassett and Daniel Hassett. Elizabeth also leaves several special friends, Nancy West, Mary and Peter Ward, Jay and Linda McQuaid, Patty Hopkins and Dot McNeil. She was predeceased by four brothers, John D., John E., Robert and Charles Hassett and her beloved cat, Scarlett.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of John D. and Ina (Walstrom) Hassett and graduated from Burbank School of Nursing and John Hopkins in Orthopedic Nursing. Elizabeth worked for Liberty Mutual for 42 years as a Registered Nurse, retiring in 1992. She enjoyed spending time in her flower garden and at her home on Cape Cod.
Funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester is directing arrangements.
