TEWKSBURY - Mrs. Kathleen V. (Connor) Joyce, age 96, a resident of Tewksbury for the past sixty-two years, died peacefully in her sleep, on Thursday, December 20th, at her home. She was the beloved wife for fifty-six years of the late Edmund F. Joyce, who died on March 14, 2009.
She was born in Derrylahan, County Roscommon, Ireland, on May 5, 1922, one of six children of the late Patrick and Margaret (Concannon) Connor, and emigrated to the U.S. in 1948, where she settled in Arlington. After her marriage to Ed in June 1953, they move to Tewksbury to raise their family. She was a Communicant of St. Dorothy’s Church in Wilmington.
In addition to her duty as a mother and wife, she worked in the Printing Department of Sweetheart Plastics in Wilmington.
She is survived by four sons, William J. Joyce and his wife Barbara (Young) of Milo, ME, Edmund F. Joyce Jr. and his wife BarbaraJo (Faria) of Tyngsboro, James P. Joyce and his wife Cheryle (Caplan) of Andover, Robert E. Joyce and his wife Tamre (Castellani) of Stroudsburg, PA; ten grandchildren, Catherine Bulay and her husband Jason of WA, Terrence Joyce and his wife Stephanie of ME, Melissa Palmer and her husband Brian of NH, Angela Hildreth and her husband Michael of NH, Lindsey Joyce & Fiancé Justin Bonenfant of NH, Allison Chilson and her husband Wes of Wilmington, Olivia Benesch and her husband Michael of CA, Daniel Joyce and his wife Kelly Bixler of NH, Elizabeth Joyce & Fiancé Bryan Elman of PA and Veronica Joyce of PA; five great grandchildren; Emily, Connor, Amelia, Avery, and James, and expecting the birth of her sixth great grandchild in February; many nieces and nephews in both the U.S. and Ireland, including Leo Sacco Jr. of Medford, Jack Greeley of No. Andover, Joseph Greeley of Boston; and was predeceased by her son Edmund in his infancy; her five siblings, James Connor, Thomas Connor, Annie Hosty, Margaret Sacco, Mary Greeley; and her niece Joanie Greeley.
Visiting hours Friday morning, Dec. 28, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950.
