McCarthy, Jeanne M. (Scanlan) of Dennis, Ma, formerly of Quincy, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2018. She was 87 years old. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 64 years Robert E. McCarthy. Jeanne was born to the late Michael and Grace (Thorne) Scanlan.
Jeanne graduated from Girls High School in 1948 and Boston Teachers College in 1952 with a B.S. in Education. She began her teaching career teaching in the Boston Public Schools, and continued it later at the Gate of Heaven School in South Boston. She was a member of the St. Agatha’s women’s bowling league, and volunteered for many years at Carney Hospital. She was an avid dancer, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially at her home on the Cape.
Loving mother of Marie L. McNeilly and her husband David of Norfolk, Ma, Robert E. McCarthy Jr. and his wife Sheila of Norwell, Ma, and Kevin M. McCarthy and his wife Lisa of Windsor, CT. Proud grandmother to Katie McNeilly, Christine and Bobby McCarthy, and Brianna and Allison McCarthy. Sister to the late Robert M. Scanlan, the late Richard J. Scanlan, and the late Anne Pushard. Jeanne was a sister-in-law to Joanne Scanlan and the late Clyde Pushard. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews

Visiting hours will be Friday, December 7 from 4-8 pm in the Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street, Canton MA. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Saturday, December 8 at St. John the Evangelist Church 700 Washington St., Canton, MA. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in West Roxbury.
