Obituary

Nettie A. Dejarnette, 83, of Worcester died Saturday, November 24th in Rose Monahan Hospice Home. Her husband, Obdie Dejarnetti predeceased her. She leaves two brothers, Robert Moltey of Worcester and William “Jerry” Taylor and his wife, Diane of Verbena, AL; three sisters, Carolyn D. Miller of Worcester, Estelle Watkins and her husband, Jerry and Sadie M. Taylor Tyus and her husband, James all of Verbena, AL; 11 grandchildren including a very special granddaughter, Marie Benelkour; many great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by three sons, Alexander Dejarnette, Carl Dejarnette, Ektoro Dejarnette; two daughters, Julia Miller and Wanda Dejarnette; five brothers, Lonnie D. Deramus, Jr., Paul E. Deramus, Willie D. Deramus, James D. Deramus and Charles Taylor; and a sister, Ruther Deramus Vandiver.
She was born in Verbena, Alabama the daughter of Lonnie and Rose Lee (Taylor) Deramus. Nettie was a social worker for many years with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts until her retirement. She was baptized as a Catholic at the Holy Ghost Mission Catholic Church in Marbury, AL and joined John St. Baptist Church when she arrived in Worcester in the late 60’s. Nettie was active member of the choir, the soup kitchen and many other services within the church.
Her funeral is Friday, November 30th with a service at 10:00 AM in John Street Baptist Church, 43 John Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9:00 AM until the start of the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to John St. Baptist Church, P.O. Box 2696, Worcester, MA 01613.
