Obituary

Mona I. Davis, 89 of Goffstown, New Hampshire passed away on the evening of November 11, 2018 peacefully in her sleep. Born on May 31, 1929 in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, Mona spent much of her life in Derry, New Hampshire. She had many professions during her life including working as a laboratory technician and as an assistant in a local radio station. Her passion, however, was books, birds and poetry. She spent the past three decades as both an antiquarian book and used book re-seller out of her home and for many years at the Hollis flea market. Her fondness for poetry, both reading and writing, existed up through her recent stay in the nursing home where she was never without pad nor pen. Mona won many awards for her poetry submissions from the Poetry Society of New Hampshire.

Mona was devoted to her life long friend Barbara Berry and to her nieces Cheryl, Kelly and Heather Johnson. Having no children or grandchildren of her own, she thrived raising her grand-niece Tifanie Wyatt. She surrounded herself with her animals and her favorite books. She enjoyed the ocean, drives through the country side and a good bargain at any area yard sale.

She is survived by her sister, Thelma Sosnowski and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Grace Davis, sisters Elaine Dunton, Eleanor Gorman, Jean Davis, Verna Putnam, Mildred Watkins, Helen Johnson; and brothers Richard and Fred Davis.

Following cremation there will be no services. Burial will be handled privately. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium is assisting the family with arrangements. Donations can be made in Mona’s name to the NH Audubon Society, 84 Silk Farm Road, Concord, NH 03301.
