Obituary

AUBURN___Irene T. (Jeznach) Mrugala, 94, of Auburn died on Sunday, November 11, 2018 in Rose Monahan Hospice with her family at her side. Her husband Theodore A. Mrugala died November 11, 1999. She is survived by her two sons, Ted J. Mrugala of Auburn and Richard S. Mrugala and his wife Doris of South Windsor, CT; six grandchildren, Matthew and his wife Joanne, Mark, Daniel, Sarah, Jessica and Timothy; sisters, Jane Richinick and Theresa Ryder, both of West Boylston; brother Raymond Jeznach of Charlton; many nieces and nephews. She was born in Worcester, a daughter of Stanislaw and Franczeska (Matejowska) Jeznach.

Irene was a homemaker, devoted wife and caretaker for her husband when he became ill. She was a proud mother and adoring grandma whose smile greatened in the presence of her grandchildren. She was the family historian, delighting in sharing every detail of each child, grandchild, niece and nephew, grandniece and grandnephew. Everyone received a birthday card from Irene; her memory was amazing. In addition to her love for New England sports - particularly the Patriots and Red Sox - her long-standing “sweet tooth” kept her content. Irene was a devout Catholic and proud of her Polish heritage, perfecting many traditional dishes.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2018 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., Worcester with a Mass at 10:30 a.m., in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Worcester. Calling hours in the funeral home are Wednesday, November 14, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.
