Obituary

Worcester – Anna (Arger) Pitro, 95, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 9th with her family by her side in Saint Vincent Hospital after a short illness.

Anna was married to the late Vasil T. Pitro and is survived by two sons, Peter R. Pitro of Boylston and Paul T. Pitro of Spencer; three daughters, Jane C. Bonin and her husband, Jay of Rochdale, Linda E. Falconer of Worcester and Dian S. Levitan and her husband, Jay of Leicester; 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Anna was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Mandi and Fanka (Naum) Arger and is also predeceased by a sister and two brothers including, John Arger. Mrs. Pitro is also predeceased by a grandson Stephen Pitro and a great grandson, Adam Levitan.

Mrs. Pitro along with her husband Vasil owned and operated the former Cape Cod Grille in Worcester for 41 years from 1949 thru 1980. She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church. Anna enjoyed being with her family but was always happy when she was able to babysit her grandchildren. Mrs. Pitro was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Red Sox and her favorite golfer, Tiger Woods. She enjoyed playing bingo, cards and taking trips to the beach. Anna’s family was the center of her life and cherished the times that they were all able to spend together, especially the Christmas celebrations and family dinners.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 14th at 10 AM in St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox 535 Salisbury Street, with a viewing from 9 to 10 prior to the funeral in the church. Burial will be held in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 13th from 5 to 8 PM in the church.

Anna always loved to make sure everyone was fed. To help keep her legacy alive the family asks that memorial contributions in memory of Anna may be made to the Saint John’s Food for the Poor Program 44 Temple Street Worcester, MA 01604.
