Natick – Ruth Irene Gilinsky, 88, formerly of Auburn died on Wednesday, October 17th in the Mary Ann Morse Healthcare Center, Natick after enduring many years with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Ruth was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Edmond and Marguerite (Hosmer) Gilinsky. She was predeceased by two sisters, Janet Holmes and Dorothy Geiger; a brother Barry Carmel and a niece, Cynthia Holmes.
Miss Gilinsky graduated from Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing and was employed by the hospital as a nurse and a social worker for 40 years before retiring. She was also a graduate of Assumption College in Worcester, having earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1974 and a Master of Arts Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling in 1978.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Auburn, the Catholic Nurses Association of Worcester and the Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially traveling to Florida, New Hampshire, Maine and Cape Cod. Most of all, Ruth dedicated her life to caring for those in need and will be fondly remembered for her kindness and generosity.
She will be dearly missed by her close friend, Dorothy Stanton; her brother in law, Arthur Holmes and nieces and nephews, Donna, Kenny, David, Lynn, Mark, Susan, Beth, Jimmy, Carol and Cheryl and their families.
The funeral will be held on Monday, October 22nd from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond Street Worcester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph’s Church 189 Oxford Street Auburn. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. A calling hour will be held from 9 to 10 in the funeral home before the mass.
