Catherine B. “Katie” Coomey, 52, of Worcester died Tuesday, September 25th in Beaumont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She leaves three brothers, William J. Coomey of Oklahoma City, OK, Kevin T. Coomey of Springfield and Daniel P. Coomey and his wife, Sheila of Shrewsbury; three sisters, Judith A. Mulrooney of Somerset, Mary M. Cassanelli and her husband, Maurice of Mashpee and Margaret A. Halvorson and her husband, Michael of North Brookfield and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of William and Julia (Duffy) Coomey, and had worked as a waitress in the Worcester area for 20 years, most recently for Billy’s Pub in Shrewsbury. Katie enjoyed time spent with her nieces and nephews. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, her infectious smile and her outlook on life; as well as her love of reading.
Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 29th in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 10:00 AM. A visitation will be held from 9:00 until the time of the service on Saturday. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
