Obituary

Christine G. Curhan-Pina, 63, of New Bedford passed away peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of Frank Pina, and loving mother of Aris J. Curhan-Pina.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Evelyn C. (Pires) Santos and Abraham Curhan, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.

For the past 46 years she has been employed by St. Luke's Hospital, where she was the Radiology Information Systems Coordinator, and also the Supervisor for Radiology Medical Transcriptionist for many years.

Christine was the rock of her family and was like a second mother to many. The most important things in life for her was spending time with her husband and son, family members, and friends. She loved to entertain and host holiday parties, and was a very skilled story teller. She was an extremely caring and loving person and always had an open door, ready ear, or open arms for those who knew her.

Her hobbies included singing, cooking(which she excelled at) and crafting.

She served for years on the Educational Committee, The National Radiologic Technologist Committee, and The Arthur Hanafan Scholarship Committee.

She is survived by her husband Frank; her son, Aris Jason Curhan-Pina of Queens, NY; her stepchildren, Frank Pina Jr. of Jay, NY, Dr. Jan Frederick Leitao-Pina of Worcester, Wesley Pina of Westport, and Gailyn Marie Pina-Gomes; her siblings, Michael Pires of Somerset, Sandra Neves, Marie Maciel, Glen Curhan, and Harry Curhan, all of New Bedford, Richard Curhan and Michael Cohen, both of New York, and Murray Curhan of Mattapoisett; her sisters-in-law, Viola Pina-Pires, Helen Jenkins and Anita Robinson of New Bedford; her brothers-in-law, Richard Pina of Fairhaven and Dr. Burt Pina of Marion; four grandchildren, David, India, Sydney, and Jacob; four great-grandchildren, Alexa, Zamari, Maddyx, and Quinlyn; her Godsons, Jeffery Neves and Wayne Pires of New Bedford, and Marc Washington, Jr. of Chicago; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was the beloved sister of the late Kenneth Pires, and grandmother of the late Jordan Leitao-Pina.

Her Funeral will be held on Monday September 24, 2018 at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM.
