Andrew “Drew” Harris, 61, a retired Worcester Police Officer died Monday, September 17th in UMass Memorial Hospital – University Campus. He leaves his siblings, Velvet Harris of Seymour, CT, Lavonne Harris of Worcester, Theodis Harris of Brentwood, NY and Permeriea Harris- Agyeman of Macclenny, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. He was predeceased by a brother, Melvin Harris.
He was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama the son of the late Melvin and Ollie Mae (Humphreys) Harris. Drew was a police officer with the City of Worcester for 33 years, retiring in 2013. Andrew was a well respected and honorable man with a great spirit and a big heart. He was often sought out for counseling advice and was a true cornerstone of his community and his family. He will be greatly missed.
His funeral is Monday, September 24th with a service at 11:00 AM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 AM in the funeral home.
