Obituary

George E. McMahon, 94, of Worcester, passed away September 11, 2018 in his home surrounded by the love of his family. He is survived by his daughters; Patricia Caparso and her husband John, his son George E. McMahon, Jr. and his wife Elenor, his daughter Linda McMahon, who was his care giver for many years and his youngest daughter Lisa Dorothy McMahon. He also leaves his grandchildren, Tara A. McMahon, John McMahon, Jonathan Caparso, Matthew Caparso and his wife Lauren, Rachael McMahon and Clinton McMahon, two great-grandchildren, Everly McGrail and Lola McMahon.

George was a proud patriot and served during World War II as a member of the 3rd Battalion of the 339th “Polar Bear" Regiment. This group discovered a vast collection of priceless art treasures that were taken by the Germans and hidden in a 15th century castle in Italy. They recovered works by Rembrandt, Rubens, Raphael, Michelangelo and Botticelli. George came home to become a Worcester Police Officer. He was a man of many skills and talents he was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and loved to spend Sundays watching the New England Patriots. He also loved to fish but took most pride raising his children and grandchildren. “ Papa’s ” bright smile and quick with will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

A calling hour will be Monday, September 17, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., concluding with a service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.
