Michal Filewicz, 68, of Worcester, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday September 9, 2018 with family by his side after a long battle with Progressive supranuclear palsy.
He leaves his wife of nine years, Grazyna (Ogorkiewicz) Filewicz, a daughter, Joanna M. Piascik and her husband Tomasz of Holden; a son, Michael N. Filewicz of Worcester; three grandchildren; his mother Maria Filewicz of Poland; a sister, Boguslawa Kwiatkowska of Worcester; two brothers, Stefan Filewicz of Poland and Marek Filewicz of Worcester. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Michal was predeceased by a daughter, Amelia K. Filewicz in 1990 and was also predeceased by his father, Stefan Filewicz. He was born in Darlowo, Poland and was raised in Bobolin, Poland to a farming family and graduated from trade school in Poland as a machinist. He emigrated to the US in 1978. After settling in Worcester, he began an almost 30 year career at Wyman Gordon Co in Grafton, from which he retired several years ago. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Michal loved nature and being outdoors and enjoyed traveling with family.

The funeral will be held on Friday September 14, 2018 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street with a service at 11:30 A.M. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 256 Hamilton Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Thursday September 13, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Friday September 14, 2018 from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M.
