Obituary

Helen Frances (Cashman) Trainor, 92, of Worcester died August, 8th 2018 surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness.

Helen was born in Worcester, daughter of Frederick and Helen (Power) Cashman. She was a childhood parishioner of St. Ann's Church on St. Ann's Hill and attended the former Sacred Heart Academy.

She worked during the end of WW II and briefly thereafter at Melville Shoe Co. when the "love of her life" returned from the war. They married and started their family.

Helen was a stay at home Mom for her four children. For over 50 years she volunteered one morning a week at the front desk at St. Vincent Hospital. She had been a member of the Our Lady of Providence Guild. She was an active parishioner of St. Andrew the Apostle since 1958. She was a former member of the Froshinn Club and enjoyed dancing there and at many other locales. Helen attended reunions around the country with her husband for his B24, 376th Bombardment Group. She belonged to the Jewish Community Center where she loved to swim.

Helen is survived by the family she devoted her life to and who cherished her. She leaves her son, Reverend Richard F. Trainor, Pastor of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Parish in Worcester, her daughter, Ann Hedge and her husband, Jack, her son, William Trainor and his wife, Kathleen, and her daughter, Jean Sullivan, all of Worcester. She was blessed with nine grandchildren; Jenn, Tim, Camille, Rachael,Neal, Will, Magdalen, Maeve and Nell and five great-grandchildren; Jack, Megan, Mason, Owen and Laney. She also leaves her brother, Robert Cashman and his wife, Nancy and many nieces and nephews. In addition to family, she leaves behind so many friends who enriched her life and she in turn enriched theirs. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard F. Trainor to whom she had been married sixty-six years at the time of his death in 2013, as well as her sister, Margaret M. Mara.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 12th at O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester. Her funeral Mass of Resurrection is Monday, August 13th at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter's Church, 931 Main Street, Worcester. Her son, Father Richard Trainor is the principal celebrant. The Rite of Christian Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester.
