BERKELEY, John Gordon, age 48, of Bellingham, formerly of Rockland, passed away peacefully at his home after a fierce struggle with Glioblastoma Multiforme brain cancer. John was the loving husband of Lois (Pyne) Berkeley and amazing father to Mallory Christine and Zachary Robert. Dedicated son of Patricia (Shea) Berkeley and the late Robert J. Berkeley, both of Rockland. Big brother to Christine Berkeley and the late Robert (Rob) Berkeley. Caring uncle to Madison, Taylor and Eric. Survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be missed greatly by his loving pets Daisy & Josie and a multitude of friends. John loved riding his Harley, watching his enamored Patriots and was an avid camper and sports fan, playing golf, hockey and coaching his children’s sports. He graduated in 1988 from South Shore Vo-Tech and that July, along with his Dad and a childhood friend, initiated and completed the Cross Country for Cancer bike ride (beginning in Santa Monica, CA ending at his childhood home in Rockland) raising fundsfor Dana-Farber/ Jimmy Fund. John was a former employee of UC Synergetic in Mansfield. John Co-founded and was the Inaugural President of the Li-Fraumeni Syndrome Association and the instrumental in the formation of LFSA. John was also a parishioner of St. Blaise Church in Bellingham.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Monday, August 6th, at 9:45 AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St. Franklin, with a funeral Mass in St. Blaise Church 1158 S. Main St. Bellingham at 10:30 AM. Internment will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday, August 5th from 4-7 PM.
