Obituary

WEBSTER – Rev. Raymond P. Messier, 76, died Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester.

He leaves a brother, Paul Messier of Lexington, SC; and a niece.

He was born in Worcester and raised in Auburn, the son of Roland A. and Marion L. (King) Messier. He graduated from Holy Name High School in Worcester in 1959 and was later awarded a Bachelor of Arts Degree from St. Hyacinthe Seminary in Quebec. He completed his studies for the priesthood in the Grand Seminary in Montreal, Canada. He earned his Master’s Degree in Theology from the American College in Louvain, Belgium and was ordained to the priesthood June 21, 1968 by Bishop Bernard J. Flanagan. He retired from active ministry in 2003.

Rev. Messier has lived in Webster since 2010. The family would like to thank the staff at Christopher Heights in Webster for their kindness to Fr. Ray. They would also like to thank Sister Mary Anne Bartell the diocesan minister to retired priests for the care and compassion she has given to Father in his illness.

All services will be held privately at the convenience of his family. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster. Donations in his memory may be made to the Fund For Retired Priests, 49 Elm Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
