Obituary

WEBSTER – Doris L. (Anderson) Manzi, 91, formerly of Golden Heights, died Friday, June 8, 2018 in Webster Manor with her family at her side. Her husband, Michael A. Manzi, died in 1983.

She leaves a brother, Carl Anderson and his wife Vilma of Vernon, CT; 2 sisters, Shirley Zatkalik of Burlington, NC and Margaret Heide of Webster; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Emil W. Anderson, Jr. and Robert F. Anderson.

She was born and raised in Unionville, CT, the oldest daughter of Emil W. Anderson, Sr. and Emma H. (Illausky) Anderson. She moved to Webster in 1951 and had lived at Golden Heights for 23 years. She graduated from Bristol (CT) High School in 1944 and then earned a certificate in accounting at Bay Path Institute in Springfield, MA.

Mrs. Manzi worked as a teller at the First National Bank of Webster and then was a bookkeeper at Manzi Market, also in Webster.

Doris was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Oxford. She enjoyed reading, playing parcheesi, solving crossword puzzles and listening to Big Band music.

A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, August 28, at 11:00 AM in Zion Lutheran Church, 70 South Main Street, Oxford. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Dudley. There are no calling hours. In keeping with Doris’ wishes, flowers are to be omitted and donations may be made to either the Zion Lutheran Church Music Fund or to the Oxford Ecumenical Food Pantry, both c/o Zion Lutheran Church, 70 South. Main Street, Oxford, MA 01540. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster.
